Location & Arrival

Your route to St. Gallenkirch in the Montafon

At an altitude of 1,500 m, the Vermala Wirt is located in St. Gallenkirch, right in the middle of the Silvretta Montafon ski area at the mountain station of the Garfrescha chairlift. Our mountain hut and ski hut is situated in the Montafon region of Vorarlberg, Austria’s westernmost province and neighbour of Tyrol.

The Silvretta Montafon ski area

is the 10th largest ski resort in Austria with 141 kilometres of slopes, stretching from 700 metres up to 2,430 metres, from Schruns across St. Gallenkirch to Gaschurn. The Montafon hiking area is framed by the mountain ranges of Rätikon, Silvretta and Verwall.

For a wider overview:

the Montafon valley borders Switzerland (Klosters and Davos) to the southwest, the Brandnertal to the northwest, the Klostertal–Arlberg region to the northeast, and at the valley’s end to the Paznaun valley (Ischgl and Galtür) in the southeast. The Montafon is our heart of the Alps.
